Q: Is there anything I should know before my first installation of these new models?
A: By default, these models will request DHCP with a fixed IP address as a failover. Upon initial power up, the switches will boot up for apporximately 60 seconds, then will look for DHCP the next 60 seconds. If, after approximately 120 seconds, no DCHP IP address is delivered, the switches will failover to a static IP of 192.168.0.4. In addition, the intital setup wizard built into the switches allows the installer to either keep DHCP or change the switch to a static IP address of choice.

Q: I have a job that needs a lot of switches. Is there an easy way to manage them all?
A: A new feature called Group Manager allows you to set one switch as a primary, then access the UI of the secondary switches all from the UI of the primary switch. Up to 16 switches from the 510 series can be managed from one screen.

Q: Do these models have a stacking function?
A: These new models utilize port aggregation (combining) instead. The benefit of aggregation over stacking is that with stacking we were limited to 10Gb. Aggregating fiber ports increases the options you have as a dealer as you can choose whether you need 10, 20, 30, or 40Gb for your install. In addition, switch models can be mixed together as aggregation works across all switch models.

Q: Can I reboot my switch without rebooting all my PoE powered devices?
A: Yes you can, with our new Non-Stop PoE feature, you can reboot, data cycle ports, perform a firmware update, just about anything short of pulling the power cord out and PoE power will remain on to all PoE devices

Q: Without stacking, will these models still work for AV over IP installations?
A: Yes, Aggregation simply provides the option of increased bandwidth between switches for large bandwidth applications such as video over IP What hasn't changed is the Compatbility with all video over IP brands as the swithchess still ulize standard IGMP and VLAN protocols. For Just Add Power, an updated version of JADConfig will be released to configure these new models

Q: Are there changes to to the SFP and SFP+ ports?
A: Each model now has four ports of either 1Gb (510 series) or 10Gb (610 series) capability. As detailed before, these can be aggregated (combined) for up to 40Gb connections.

Q: Have the PoE budgets grown?
A: Yes, some of the switches have more PoE power available to you than the model they replace. The SW-510-48P-F model supports a maximum PoE+ budget of 740 watts.

Q: I need a lot of flexibility with PoE scheduling, What are my options?
A: The 510 and 610 series introduce an enhanced version of our previous scheduler. The scheduling feature now allows you to create events in five-minute increments and create profiles that can be assigned to any port.
