Q: Are there additional mounting brackets for the VDB770?
A: Yes. In addition to the three mounting brackets included with the VDB770, the optional Wedge Mount Kit (ADC VDBA-WMK) includes four additional wedge types.

The additional wedges allow the user to acheive more extreme left/right pans for installation on walls perpendicular to the door. It also adds different options for tilt combined with left/right pan to allow for expanded vFoV to the ground, minimizing the blind spot at the bottom of the field of view to capture smaller packages.

Q: Can the VDB770 be used in climates that reach higher or lower than the temperature rating?
A: Yes, but functionality may be reduced during peak winter or summer weather depending on the climate.

The outer surface of the device, and especially the backplate, are expected to reach higher temperatures than some other Alarm.com video devices. Due to the slim form factor and advanced analytics processing capability, the device will generate heat that can be apparent even at more moderate ambient temperatures.

Alarm.com designed the device to effectively channel heat away from key components and user interaction areas and have conducted thorough testing to ensure safe operation of the device across the full range of operating temperatures and conditions.

High-temperature functionality
The maximum rated temperature 104°F (40°C) is based on testing in a poor WiFi environment, direct sunlight, low wind, and extended continuous periods (i.e., 10 minutes or more) of high resource usage.
Some installations, particularly those in which the device is in better WiFi environments and is not directly exposed to midday sunlight, may be able to operate all or most of the time at higher ambient temperatures than the device is rated for.

Low-temperature functionality
The device is deisgned to operate with reduced functionality below the minimum rated temperature of -22°F (-30°C). Additionally, fully functionality may be maintained below the minimum rated temperature in favorable conditions (i.e., minimal airflow/wind).

Q: Can the VDB770 be used without a chime?
A: Yes. For more information about how to install the VDB770 without a chime, please see here.

Q: Can the VDB770 be used without a Power Module?
A: Yes. The following power configurations do not need a Power Module installed:

A VDB770 powered using the Video Doorbell Wall Power Kit (ADC VDB-PSU-DC). For more information, please see here.

A VDB770 powered using its mirco USB port to perform short-term testing. For more information, please see here.

Q: Can the VDB770 send notifications to a security panel?

Q: Can the VDB770 use Video Motion Detection and Video Analytics?
A: The VDB770 can only use Video Analytics. The Video Analytics recording rule options for the VDB770 are limited to the following:

Q: Can the micro USB port power the VDB770?
A: Yes. However, it should only be used temporarily for troubleshooting. The VDB770's backplate acts as a heat sink to regulate its temperature and must be in place for long-term operation. Otherwise, the device could overheat and cause damage to itself and the user.

Q: Can two VDB770 be wired to a single digital chime?
A: No. Digital chimes cannont support more than one VDB770 at a time.

Q: Can users change LED color of the button on the VDB770?
A: No. The LED color for the button on the VDB770 cannont be customized.
NOTE: The LED does change color based on the status of the doorbell.

Q: Do saved clips from the VDB770 contain audio?
A: Yes. If audio was recorded, the saved video clip will have audio.

Q: How can users view the VDB770 live video stream?
A: The live video stream is available for the VDB770 on the Customer Website and Customer app.

The VDB770 can also be streamed from the following compatible panels:

Q: Is it normal for the VDB770 to feel warm?
A: Yes. The outer surfaces of the device and especially the back plate are expected to reach higher temperatures than some other Alarm.com devices.

Q: Is there a recommended WiFi extender for the VDB770?
